Although there were a few minor upgrades to the vanity area such as the faucet and light fixture, overall the appearance was still very basic and dull. The vanity mirror had already been removed, however it is the same mirror used in the upgrade.
Closer Look at the Project
One key component to giving this bathroom a brighter look was to give the cabinet a facelift. We did this by replacing the doors and drawer fronts with a Shaker style doors for a more updated look and changed the color to brighter tone. The color that was selected for the cabinet was a soft grey with a hint of blue.
Quartz Top and Vessel Sink
The top is a simple white color with a subtle grey accent speckle. In order to keep the height of the sink somewhat similar to the original vanity we decided to countersink the sink rather than a traditional surface mount. The frosted finish of the glass limits any visibility down into the cabinet.
Light Fixtures and Shiplap
The old bulb fixture was replaced with new LED recessed lights above the vanity and a fun decorative glass fixture in the center of the room. The shiplap was constructed from 1/4" sanded plywood ripped to 8" strips and then primed and painted with an Eggshell sheen.
Overall the project was very successful and affordable. The entire project took four and a half days to complete.
