Granite Counter Top Renovation Opens Up Kitchen

The homeowner wanted to redesign the existing countertop to make it more practical, while at the same time open up the kitchen to the living space.  The plan was to take the breakfast bar section of the counter and lower it to the level of the main counter.

MP Contracting performed the removal of the granite slab and then modified the pony wall to re-install the granite at the new height.  The overall height reduction was approximately 8 inches.  By lowering the slab just proud of the existing granite slab, it allowed for a 1" parameter around the sink to help contain any water run off.

The new look provided a much cleaner appearance. 

The project took approximately 8 hours to complete.
