Office Desk Space Rehab

Taking a workspace from a repurposed cubicle to a built in desk and shelf unit with framed cork-board.

Although the functionality of the area is the same, the renovation did add a cleaner look and more workspace in the office overall.

Patio Corner Facia Repair and Reinforcement

Over time the facia on any home can be prone to weather damage causing the wood to deteriorate and eventually fall apart.  A major contributor to this issue is a roof system that is old and allowing moisture to get in under the substrate and collect at the lowest point of the roof, typically the "facia".

After replacing the the damaged wood, one of the first steps is to caulk and seal any areas that water can get into causing the issue all over again.   This particular 2x6 had a hairline split running down the side, structurally is was superficial, to be certain it's best to caulk all those areas prior to primer and paint.

In addition, we added a 2x6 support outrigger where the existing facia and new facia meet.

A closer look at the inside corner supports.  We added a Simpson Strong Tie and a mending plate to the bottom of the mitre cut.  This will help the mitered corner stay straight and minimize splitting and twisting. 

The homeowner was planning to paint the house in the next few days so the repair was left as seen in the photos.

Drywall Damage Repair and Protect with Heavy Duty Stopper

There are many options when choosing a door stop to prevent damage to your drywall caused by the door handle.

We recently repaired a wall that had been damaged multiple times and installed a commercial grade door stop that featured a rubber cushion to help absorb an impact from the door handle. In addition to the stop we reinforced the wall with (2) 1 x 3 wood studs to support the stopper.

The door stop can be purchased at your local Home Depot in the hardware section.
